PRODUCER FEATURE - DEBATE
ADELAIDE PRODUCER BEHIND PRODUCTION FOR HILLTOP HOODS 'RENT WEEK', 'HERE COME THE GIRLS' AND 'I LOVE IT FEAT. SIA (REMIX)'
During the mid to late 90’s, Adelaide producer Debate started developing his skills as a producer. He built his foundation for production around the 90's East Coast sound while incorporating his own musical flavor learned from his many years of music lessons. Constantly raiding his parent’s, friends’ parents & local goodwill store record collections, Debate steadily built a library of samples and drum sounds which he has been continually adding too for the last 15 years.
While working on production Debate also honed his MC skills. In 2002, his group 'Train Of Thought' dropped the ‘Demo’ closely followed in 2004 by ‘Moving Heads’. Debate featured on both these albums as an MC and also took care of all the production duties excluding ‘Head For the Hills’ which featured the Hilltop Hoods and was produced by Suffa. Moving Heads saw Debate work with Australian Hip Hop groups Hilltop Hoods, Funkoars & After Hours. It also enabled him along with Train Of Thought to perform alongside Australian & International acts around Australia.
After this period Debate worked closely along side his deejay Hacksaw, they recorded many tracks between 2006 & 2009 which were never released. In 2009 Debate produced the album ‘Spice Of Life’ by Train Of Thought member LevelHeaded, the same year also saw Debate’s production feature on 2 Hilltop Hoods Tracks, ‘Here Come The Girls’ (Released as a bonus track on ‘The Calling’ Deluxe Edition) and ‘Rent Week’ (Released as a bonus track on ‘State Of The Art’ Itunes Version).
Debates production credit list has steadily grown over the years and his beats are now becoming more sort after nationally and internationally. 2011 alone saw Debates production feature on Funkoars – The Quickening, Funkoars – It’s all Good 12’, Mase N Mattic – Sound The Horns, After Hours – Darker Days & Reason – Window Of Time.
Currently Debate is working with Hacksaw under the group name Vinyl Villains and they are hard at work on their Mixtape and full length LP both due out in 2012.
